www.usacharvels.com: Your resource for vintage San Dimas Charvel guitars!

This guitar was obviously inspired by George Lynch's Tiger guitar. The neck and hardware came from an early USA made Kramer Pacer that I purchased second hand for a mere $85. I always loved the look of Kramer guitars with the banana style headstock and immediately bought this Kramer Pacer because of the neck. Truth be told, the Pacer weighed a ton and I knew as a result I would not play her much but the neck was amazing. I instantly LOVED the feel of this neck and it is still one of my all time favorites (easily my favorite nonCharvel style neck). It just fits my preferences to a "T" and offers a terrific "broken in" feel thanks to years of heavy use.

After mating this neck with various lighter weight bodies I finally took Lee's (GMW) advice and had him marry the neck and hardware from the Pacer with the Tiger body. The Tiger paint job is superb (check out the painted matching back covers) and I could not have been happier with how well the guitar plays, sounds and looks. This is one of the guitars that I keep in my office and as a result she gets played a lot.

Interestingly, early Kramer (and some ESP) guitars used the same nonlogo'd Gotoh tuners that were found on San Dimas era Charvels. As a result, you often find Kramer guitars with their tuners replaced as the original style Charvel tuners are sometimes hard to find. This one still has the original tuners and early original Floyd Rose Tremolo. The neck plate has serial number C5139, however there is no "Made in USA" stamped on the neck plate which was often the case during this time period.

What more can I say, she is a beauty and the quality of GMW's work never ceases to amaze me. I really like the look of the back of this guitar with the matching painted covers. There you have it sports fans; original Kramer parts married with a GMW body resulting in a super cool 80's shredder!!
