This guitar is a replica of the Charvel "Navy" guitar that Amir Derakh played during his Rough Cutt days. Amir's passion for WWII memorabilia is obvious noting the military style graphics that adorned many of his guitars during the 80's. I have always loved cool graphics and Amir's "Navy" Charvel has always been one of my favorites. During a visit to GMW, I was discussing how cool Amir's guitars were and that I loved the detailed graphics on them. Lee laughed and pulled out a body finished in the "Navy" graphic. I could not resist, (I say that a lot when I see cool guitars) and purchased the body. The body had a few small imperfections along the control cavity route (prior to painting, after painting they are hard to notice). I tried to use these small imperfections as an haggling tool but as most know it is hard to haggle with Lee, lol! I gave Lee the necessary parts to finish this project from parts I took off a Jackson guitar that I had bought at a pawn shop for $70. When I bought the guitar it had an Ibanez body but the neck plate (serial #1125) and neck were original. The neck needed some work as the logo was sanded off and a crappy Floyd nut was poorly added. If you look closely at the pictures showing the back of this guitar, you will notice that the control cavity is the larger (later Ontario era Jackson style) as opposed to the smaller (San Dimas era) route. If the guitar were factory original and simply refinished, the body would have the smaller San Dimas era route most likely. Note that the Jackson serial numbered neck plates were not used sequentially. The neck on this guitar (early serialized Jackson guitars) is identical in feel, to the Charvel logo'd ones. In fact, blindfolded I would not be able to tell this neck from the necks on my beloved Charvel pointies. As a result this "parts" guitar is another great player. While not a factory original Jackson, this guitar plays and sounds equally as good. The graphic is excellent and she serves as a great example of the typical 80's Heavy Metal guitar, having a cool graphic, single pickup, Floyd rose and a pointy head - good ol' days is an understatement
