This guitar was my first introduction to GMW and the high quality guitars they build. I was blown away with the attention to detail that goes into each guitar and how accurate their replicas are to the originals. I did not know of GMW unfortunately, until after I purchased this guitar. That in itself was a very costly mistake as I paid more for the guitar than if I had purchased it directly from GMW. I did not make this mistake again and over the years I have done a lot of business with GMW and highly recommend their work. The guitar is as famous as its owner (EVH) and this combination of red, white and black paint is probably the single most copied artwork ever done on a guitar. A quick search on ebay will illustrate this point as many EVH fans and guitar enthusiast alike, have replicas of Eddie's guitars. Of all of Eddie's guitars the red/white/black combination is probably the one most associated with him and in fact this style paint job can be found on many of EVH's personal guitars. As I already had a replica of Eddie's famous Frankenstrat in my collection, I thought the GMW 5150 replica would make a great addition. While the quality of the GMW is obviously much higher than my home-made Frankenstrat replica, I feel my replica captures the EVH mentality better. This is in part because of my preference for relic (dinged) looking guitars and also because this is how EVH originally did his. Using only his imagination and a supply of tape and spray paint, EVH introduced the world to "striped" guitars. It is easy to take EVH's contributions to music and guitar for granted but he literally turned music and the guitars themselves on their ear back in the day. Where do you think the one hum, Floyd Rose equipped graphic style Strat design came from?
