Fred Morata of "The Repair Zone" - made this guitar for me when I lived in San Diego, CA. Fred is an awesome guy and does excellent work. In fact, he was my main go to guy when I lived in San Diego and has worked on many of my guitars.

I had asked Fred to build me a Tele style guitar with a mahogany body and wired like Jerry Donahue of the Hellecasters Telecaster. The body and neck were obtained from Warmoth and Fred was lucky enough to score original Fender Tele hardware (bridge, tuners and neck plate) from a Fender '52 USA Reissue. The pickups used by Jerry are available from Seymour Duncan so with all the necessary parts accounted for, our talk turned to color/finish. I always loved a matching painted headstock and suggested using a sparkle finish. Fred grinned and told me he knew the painter who did some paint work for G & L and had suggested a blue sparkle finish. What a fine choice it was, as I love the color of this guitar. Fred said he had received several refinishing requests for the same color after others saw this guitar. I remember in particular a KILLER Les Paul that Fred had worked on that was refinished in the same color.

While the color of this guitar is simply amazing when seen in person, she plays and sounds as good as she looks.   The only change I made to the guitar was I added a faux Fender Tele logo on the headstock. It sucks being vain but I would never attempt to pass it off as a Fender. In fact, I wish at that time Fred logo'd his guitars as he had some cool names for some of the guitars he built!!

I was so impressed with this guitar and Fred's work that I asked him to build me a second Tele (ash body and reverse Strat neck). You can never have enough cool guitars, especially Teles. Check out some of Fred's other guitars over at www.nakedguitar.com , you won't be disappointed
