You have to admit that “Bich” (pronounced “Bitch”) has to be one of the coolest names ever used for a guitar model and the guitar lives up to the excitement the name commands. The BC “Bich” model (especially the 10 string version) was a staple for 70’s and 80’s rockers and was found in the hands of many guitarists including Joe Perry, Rick Derringer and Lita Ford. This guitar is finished in a cool transparent green color which nicely draws attention to the all gold/brass hardware and beautiful birds-eye figured maple top. The guitar has the full Bich electronics package (I still don’t know what all the switches and controls do), cloud inlays, ebony fingerboard, Grover tuners and neck through the body construction. While I prefer the neck and headstock binding on guitars (which is standard on the BC Rich Bich Supreme), in the case of this particular guitar/color I like the look without neck and headstock binding. A few things that are not ordinary and thus stand out on this guitar are the tremolo; a Floyd licensed BC Rich variant and the top (face of guitar). In fact, most other Bich models I have seen have had a stop tail bridge (which is standard affair) and I have only seen a few other examples with a locking tremolo. The top whilst extremely beautiful is also rather unique and definitely not standard fair. Most other examples I have seen use a three piece top, comprised of two wings (usually made from highly figured wood) sandwiching the central neck through core section. Discussions with other people raise the interesting possibility that this guitar was re-topped at one point or built from a body blank. This certainly could be true, noting in addition, that the guitar lacks a serial number. This guitar sounds great and if I could ever figure out the wiring (electronics) I bet she would offer me many more sounds, lol. This neck on this guitar is super fast because of the thin profile and jumbo fret combination. I really enjoy playing this guitar and it seems like every time I play her, I discover a new setting for a cool new sound. This guitar offers it all sonically and she is probably the single most versatile guitar I own. If only I could remember how to get the cool sounds once I stumble on them…you have to admit all those switches and knobs are kind of confusing!
